A day in Japan...

Time in Nakameguro?

Nakameguro, is a hip neighbourhood in South Central Tokyo. The area is full of vintage clothes shops, cafes, bars and "quirky" shops. A link to a Hello Sandwhich blog about the area is here

I've been trying to find some contemporary architecture in the area but have only found this house by Level Architects!

The slide is pretty sweet!

As far as cafes/bars go there are millions! And after clicking through loads and loads I've found one that seems awesome. It's called Combine and hosts a huge bookcase along one wall with mainly Japanese art and design books for us to flick through while we have some food and sake! Also it has dj's at night so could be an option for later on in the evening.

As for art there is tons of galleries in the neighbourhood... One Gallery that had me interested was Mizuma Art Gallery and also Gallery Koko in nearby Ebisu seems pretty interesting!

I've found this website, SHIFT. It has a good tokyo guide (and other Japanese cities) and each place it features has links to other possible "attractions" within walking distance. And when i say "attractions" you know I mean trendy art/design/music/fashion/bars/restaurants and general wonderfulness! Check it!

Now. Getting there. Hmm. Tokyo is confusing the hell out of me! But the closest JR station is Ebisu, from there its 3 minutes to Nakameguro Sation by train or 14 minutes walking (according to google maps directions).

Now thats a start to Tokyo ideas, better get started on the rest...
